A baby mini-gecko is living on my desk in the attic. So cute and tiny! Kind of like the little guy in this picture. He was hanging out under my lamp (until I turned it on). And here are those groovy trellises. I fell in love with these years ago; now they're at a 40% close-out sale at The Great Outdoors. :) I beat the heat, but not by much. Thiswas in the shade in our backyard about 1 minute ago.
Should I paint this trim on the garage siding white (to stand out) or yellow (to make it blend in with the yellow siding)? It's now painted with bright white primer, and I hope to finish painting tomorrow. I absolutely love it that my husband (former mole-person) has turned into quite the backyard farmer. He created this first 4'x7' garden plot for herbs. Three more like this to go... I just returned from dropping a painting off for the 33rd Anniversary AVAA show -- opening Sat. night at Studio2 Gallery, 1700 S. Lamar, Austin. Come to the opening, if you can: 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM, July 17. Looks like a good show!
Job complete! I worked 27 hrs. on 72 illustrations for this project last week (Sat., Sun. included); then another 27 since midnight Mon. morning. All stairs and cabinets; this illustrations of a staricase was the hairiest of them. And I am POOPED! Every 20-30 years, some wacko puts our great city back in the national media's spotlight for something terrible. 1966 - it was Whitman shooting from the UT tower; 1991, the Yoghurt Shop Murders; yesterday - this: We are here (US 2010 Census, Austin, TX , east-central area)

It's setting now). Last shot before they went offline. On this day seven years ago, Terry and I gussied up in our best duds, and headed down to the Gazebo in Wooldridge Park for a J.P. sneak wedding. We kept it a secret for awhile, because we had hoped to have a big public to-do the following year, but alas, no to-do ever got to-done. And I guess it never will, but...
Being married for the past seven years to such a smart, kind, generous, wise, and talented guy who treats me so well is even better than the first seven years we spent together. Happy anniversary, my sweet husband! Woo-hoo! I've had a work accepted into the 2011 People’s Gallery Exhibition at Austin City Hall! I decided with 2 hrs. before deadline to enter, and had little hope of being accepted, so this is very welcome news! :D :D :D Hey, artist friends. I decided to clean my studio floor and throw down a canvas drop cloth before getting any MORE paint on the floor. Any ideas, though, on keeping paint from seeping through the cloth?
To limit my online obsessions, I gave myself the option of sitting in this chair with the laptop plugged in, or sitting on the couch with it running off battery. So far, this is proving to be a very challenging new rule! It is sooooo quiet outside. And bright for the middle of the night. New work: Organics Sketch 22, Watercolor pencils on Stonehenge paper, 7.5" x 7.5", © 2011 Marilyn Fenn -- the web in this piece may look like many layers, but it's all one piece.
It's time to get a new laptop. My beloved 4-yr/old Gateway with Wacom tablet monitor/touchscreen needs some propping up (besides being verrrry slow). My poor old laptop with floppy monitor (NOT a feature!). My best friend took me out to the Eastside Cafe for a wonderful lunch yesterday; then Terry took me to Jeffrey's for a fabulous dinner. Check out the surprise I saw when I opened the menu. :-D
Another new painting in the Organics series... On the up side, look what Fedex delivered during a lull in the storms! :D (My brother made me do it). Does that toe look broken?
