Returning Home

Packed up and headed for the train; everything has gone very smoothly.

We didn’t sleep as well this part of the train trip (next time, I’m packing my own pillow!). The train had the usual waits for freight trains east of LA, and started with another medical emergency, but it wasn't those that slowed the train down. Rains and flash floods in eastern California did, though. Sigh!

We ate, slept, read, and I drew some…it was very relaxed trip home, but once again, we were about 4 hours late in arriving at our final train destination, San Antonio (with an further hour and a half trip back to our home in Austin). I do wish Amtrak could get funding to build their own set of tracks. It seems that would enable the trains to (mostly) run on time, and no doubt, the trip would be much smoother!

We arrived back home about 4:00 a.m.; as much fun as it is to travel, it's so much better to come home!
